I use it like an R-Strap, wearing it across my chest. I didn't use the Pacsafe rings.

Have fun in Italy!

Mine arrived today--- I put it on my new body-- and put the second one in my drawer-- now I have 6 pacsafe straps! They are great.

I did not use the ring - but used the soft loop so I dont scratch the camera body. I do so a potential weakness with the plastic catch that the locking clip hooks to-- this would not be the case if you used the ring and secured the metal catch to the ring-- but then again it would scratch the body-- at least when the ring moved around (yep I am anal).

i think the metal loop is there to connect to the metal eyelets of some cameras, including several Nikons. I've tossed them and connect the nylon strap directly to the body of the camera.

I don't have mine yet, should have it early next week. I'm curious about the attachment options. What I saw in their pictures looks fine to me. It also looks like a neoprene sleeve slides over all that to prevent scratching etc. Is that true?

Yes, that also. The sleeves prevent knife attacks on the nylon webbing straps that attach to the camera.

The sleeves prevent knife attacks? I can see preventing wear and tear to the camera, and preventing someone from accessing the quick release buckles.

On another note, how many folks actually use the QR? I never do and find them annoying/unnecessary.

I would like to have seen a tighter fit with the sleeves that cover the buckles. Mine slide up and down. I don't use the release buckles, but I guess its nice to know I can if I have to.

I think he was referring to the anti-knife/box cutter wires that are lined inside the strap. Thieves can't just cut and run, they have to saw it off of you or take you with it.

Well, that's not what he wrote ;) (just giving him a hard time - tvphotog's recommendation a few months ago is the reason I have a Pacsafe)

The neoprene sleeves are just neoprene covers.

You should get the buckle and tang version then so you can take it completely off. It's really quick to R & R.

I took the rings off mine as well. I always use the QR to remove the strap when using a tripod or packing my camera in my bag.

Yep-- like a bug repellent but for knife attackers. :p

I agree with the other poster-- that the neoprene could be a little tighter-- mines slide around a little but not too much to bother me-- gives me something to do on my down time. :)

I have the camera across my chest, and on my hip, sometimes behind the hip. If the webbing straps were visible, it'd be the perfect place to make a slash. The sleeves put it "out of sight, out of mind," or at least almost impossible to get to.

When I'm at home or at a relative's, I take the strap off and use my Markins handstrap which is always on the camera.
