Another early start yesterday (5am) to get to the Cuckmere for a sunrise shoot I've been wanting to try for a while. My first attempt a few weeks ago went wrong as I took a wrong turn and couldn't find the path I needed to get me to the cottages.

This trip was nearly a waste as despite connecting and switching on my battery charger the night before, for some reason the battery hadn't charged and I only had about 40 shots left before I expected the camera to die. I switched to MF and avoided too much histogram reviewing to presurve what power I did have. Fortunately the skies performed and I got a few angles I'm pleased with. It was a bit misty so the contast in the cliffs is a bit low but now I know the location works I'll be visiting again with a fully charged battery!

love it, the interaction between the sky and the cliffs works well and the muted surrounding colour sets it off!

The second image does it for me, I couldn't find anything to anchor the image in the first, in the second the light buildings hold it all together very well, although a tad central for my eyes.
It may be worth playing around with crops to pull the buildings off-centre?

Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colours and your images will stir the soul. - Jack Dykinga
