move this post to "talk" wedding section. I charge $125/first hour, $75/each additional hour, but I'm a budget shooter.

Goto my website. Or goto other people's websites. Look at the quality of everyone's photography (especially around your area), and adjust your price accordingly.

And if you're just new to weddings and will need to sell on price in advance of building a portfolio and reputation, you might want to scan the local CraigsList to see just how low the bottom of the market can be.

Holy Crap! You are budget............... :( -----------you need to raise your prices. You need to sell the value in what you do-- not give it away......just my opinion.

You're looking at shooting weddings in the NEAR future? Better start collecting gear and practice. ;)

Call other pros that are local to you. Try to get one of them to let you assist... then maybe 2nd shoot. You'll gain experience & knowledge.... and most likely his pricing info.

But none-the-less, RESEARCH your local area. I know of all the pros within 20 miles of me, how their work compares to mine, and what they charge. I did this by calling them... pretending to be an interested client, and asking for prices. By asking here, and not in your local area, you're getting a very broad range of prices that may or may not hold up in your area. ;)

Broad range here too; everybody from the $300 for full day to $5k to start off, and lots in between there. Many of the local photographers average around $1.5-$3k; some are worth it, some are not.

Yes but I'm actually not the least expensive out here. Also, the day I can honestly say, "I'd hire me" is the day I increase my rates in some significant way. I've bumped up the first hour a few times, but the normal hourly rate hasn't moved since I started about a year ago. But at this point, I wouldn't hire me. I have high standards; I'd hire marcus bell, john michael cooper, that emil guy from NY on this forum...but not me.

I learned more on POTN than most people with photography degrees know. My assistant has a degree, she's way brighter and better than most graduates i've met, and I still know a lot more than her about the technical side of photography. She probably knows more about history and related bollocks though.
