EF 50 1.8II - $26.

Front lens group was dropped out, it was easy to fix and now lens is working perfectly.

Best recent finds....a Canon 28-105mm EF for $55 (has a 1/4" scratch on the front element) and the 180mm F2.8 MF Nikkor-ED for $140 because the apparent 1/4" scratch to the front element seen in the auction photo WAS ON THE FILTER that the seller didn't bother to note (or even notice perhaps?).

Canon 10-22 for $415. Staples had them for 50% off of $830. I was lucky enough to have a store that had the lens in stock. Bought 2 and sold the other bringing my price further down for a brand new lens

I don't want to brag, but I feel this is a great place to post this.

I bought a used 70-200 2.8 L IS for $950 from CL. Turns out it was stolen, so the police took it. In return I got a few thousand best friends on POTN and a donated 70-200 2.8 L IS Mark II.

Yeah...pretty awesome.

Signed,

Thanks to all again.

Oh awesome, didn't know the outcome. Read the thread at the beginning, but didn't follow it through. Cool!

Not a lens, but I just got a 540ez off ebay for about $20 that was described as not-working (wouldn't turn on or anything).
I put batteries in it before it met the screwdriver and...it works perfect!

This thread makes me mad. I passed up on the best deals, right when I started to get in to photography. Passed on a 135L for $650, and a 24L for $700. Can't seem to find any deals lately. :(

The best deal I ever had was one I sold. I sold a tamron 28-300 xr/ld lens (not the Di model which is much more costly) for $275. I even told the lady who bought it that she offered too much. But she wanted it and sent the money to my paypal. I felt a little guilty and at least overnighted it to her.

Ain't nothin but a thing.

Back when I shot film, I had just sold my plasticy Elan IIe and ordered an old A-1 and 50mm lens for something like $150. That same weekend I found an A-1, 28mm, & 50mm at a garage sale for $20. I kept the nicer camera and lens, sold the rest on eBay, and ended up with a great film rig for next to nothing!

A perfect used 200L 2.8 for $500 that was probably the sharpest/cleanest lens I've ever had and that was wide open, even great with the Canon 2x tele extender.

I'm quickly thinking this is the best deal I ever got. A 300 f/2.8 (with AF) for $1K. Worth far more IMO. Very sharp wide open:
