Specifying photosizes using Photo Record and

hi everyone,

i have a canon s900 printer. is there a way to show rulers within photo record? i have specified inches as the default measurement in preferences, however, i've tried everything to actually show inches when i'm working on a custom layout of an album.

also, why does photo record resize images? i sized them in photoshop as 3x3, 1.75x1.75, 4x4.5 but when i fetch photos into photo record, all the images are sized 2.25x2.25 no matter what original size of the image. i can't come up with an explanation, and i've searched the help index that comes with photo record (btw, there is no help on showing rulers within photo record).

how do find out the image size within photo record?

help, please! i'm creating an album for a christmas present.

Set the photorecord layout control to "manual" (Album > Layout > Manual.) Then move your mouse over the edge of one of the images, and you will notice red arrows which you can use to drag the image to the desired size.

The sizes will not be exact, but you'll be able to position things roughly where you want them. No rulers, either.

yes, i've resized the images using the manual option for layout. but again, there's no way to see what size the image is or becomes after resizing.

i'm a little annoyed with this product bc it gives you the choice of measurement units (inches or mm), yet the units are not displayed anywhere in the application. i mean, what's the point of allowing a user to choose between measurements if there is no reference to them?

my gripe is that i size images in photoshop only for them to be automatically resized (arbitrarily, i might add) when fetched within photorecord. i have no command or control over image sizes in photorecord.

yes, i can resize with the handles in manual layout. i've done that, but how do i find out what is the size after i've resized the image? i need to know an exact LxW measurement... now, that is the million dollar question!

if i had tested the s900 printer and its packaged utilities prior to purchasing, then this is one product i would have passed on.

I have been very pleased with Photo Record for creating albums. Instead of specifying sizes (as you wish) I have found it more useful to go to an "automatic" photo layout. The sizes of the pictures on the final album page will depend upon how many pictures you "fetch" for the album page. However, the advantage is that after you bring in the pictures and adjust the layout, you can use the picture size slider to increase the picture size to take advantage of the space. I find this ability to blow up the pictures to a maximum final print size more important to me than specifying exact print sizes.

yes, you've brought up a helpful feature in photorecord. i am not disputing that. i just wish they would also provide a method for those of us who wish to specify exact sizes. again, why have a measurement preference if there's no way to use them?

here's why specifiying sizes is so important, at least to me...

i'm building a picture collage in a frame that contains several different sized-openings for pictures. how am i to print the correct size of these images so that they'll fit within these openings of the frame? using photorecord, i am unable to create this multi-pictured collage so that the pics are sized for each specific opening. ideally, i would have liked to create an album layout that mimics the layout of the frame, where each pic is arranged for each opening.

I think you'll have more success printing each photo individually (from Photoshop or some other program) and pasting them to a backer board before framing. Photorecord is nice for colorful album pages but I do not think it will meet your specific needs. Good luck,

Krisina - Why don't you stop using your prepared collage frame and instead create your collage from scratch with PhotoRecord? You should be able to "fetch" whatever photos you want, and then drag them around, size them manually, specify your own choices of page background, frames, etc.
