Ok guys, I have seen some really good shots with the 85L lens wide open but would someone please tell me how this shot was taken at f/1.2? I want this lens but it will be a while before I can get it. I am sure this was taken on a FF body but still how was everything on this subject in perfect focus at 1.2 at this distance? I want something that will shoot this sharp of a portrait but I always thought you had to shoot at F5.6 or 8.0 to get a fully focused, sharp portiat like this. Also look at that big reflection of that soft box in her eyes. How did he shoot at f/1.2 with a flash without raising his shutter speed to like 1/1000 or more?

I need answers so I can grow and learn. If this is the wrong branch to post this I am sorry.
Thanks all

max aperture...0.625....wtf?

it was taken at f-13, this shot, not 1.2

definately full frame; 5D mark II right on the money

1/125 shutter...everything looks normal, I would venture a guess he got a little bit down on his knees and fired the trigger :D

The Exif says that it was taken at f13.

... or 'hazard a guess'; that's a common idiom.

Boy do I feel small, well actually no I don't because I knew that wasn't right so I that means I am learning.

The link that got me to that picture was a collection of 85L shoots, shot at 1.2. That’s what the link said but I am kinda glad it was wrong my mind was going crazy. So how did you guys retrieve that data, maybe there is still something to learn here. ;)
Thanks everyone

Also I was wondering if I got the 85L how do you take f1.2 shots for effect in the studio on portraits? If that question even makes since lol. I know it is great for candid available light shots but what if you want to get some funky portraits going do you use very low power flash to keep ISO down?.

Or just download the image to your computer by clicking the "save image as" tab when you left-click the image. Then open it up and right click on the image file and go to properties.

get a plugin for your browers to read exif data off images

Or, if you use Opera, you don't need a plugin, you just right click the image and select properties (on a PC).

Flash can be fired at low power, so if you really wanted to shoot in studio at f/1.2 you could.

Since the background is controllable in studio, few people use extreme fast apertures. I tend to use my 85L at f/11 indoors with flash.
