^ I use RRS plates w/o any safety pins, so I should be OK with any of the 3 right?
the flashpoint is in the lead though.

Hold on a sec, I'll go grab a few pics to show you what I mean.

Sorry it took longer than expected, I had to find the head.

If you were to file off the post you may be able to get it to work, but it'll still droop once the body and lens are attached. Well in my experience anyway.

Those little hook bits are meant to catch on the post to stop body/lens combo from falling.

Can't that safety stop be screwed out? Looks a bit like a hex screw.

Good eye(it does come out), I've never looked at it that close given my disappointment level.

I suppose it could be used in a pinch after all.

The Flashpoint QR assembly is not the same as the one you have shown in the picture. Here is a photo of the QR assembly on my Flashpoint F-1 head, which i would assume is the same as the F-3 head.

I use Giottos plates on it without any issue. The Giottos plate slides in from either side. Although the the safety plug can be removed on the Giottos assemblies (I did so), the Flashpoint is a different design (no hex socket), and may not be so easily removed.

I have absolutely no creep using my little F-1 head with a 50D, grip, 70-300 IS and a 580EX flash.

I ended up getting the dealextreme cheap ballhead. It was ~$50 and is exactly what I wanted:

it works with my RRS plates provided I take the safety pin off (it's just a hex screw). The only weird part so far is as you tighten the ball that last bit to make it solid it moves the composition a slight bit each time. But for a $50 acra compatible head, I'll take it.

What's that on the left? Looks like a tilt head, but with an attachment for a light stand?
