I will be getting a re-enlistment bonus in a few months so I will FINALLY be able to buy the lenses that I'm wanting. I also have been debating over getting another camera body. I have seen good looking 20D's going for about $300 around here. Since I am probably going to pair up either a 200mmL prime or one of the 70-200 f/2.8's and 400mm f/5.6L, I really would like to have a second body. (Yes, I know that I can buy a 100-400, but I'm needing the 70-200 range anyway and I really like what I've seen from the 400 f/5.6L). So should I pick up a 20D or 30D. The specs are almost identical from what I've seen and I'm mostly focused on image quality. I would like to have a second 40D, but I would have to sacrifice extra lenses to afford it. Recommendation?

The only major differences between the two bodies are the size of the LCD and spot metering on the 30D.

I would go for whichever is the better value. I would be willing to pay a bit more (not a lot more) for the 30D based exclusively on the fact that it's a little newer and likely to have less wear and tear...generally.

for me, the 1000 pic files of the 30d is more significant than spot metering, which i never use :D.
