Well the Osprey finally arrived back for the year and are actively starting to build their nests :D I happen to work at a park that is situated on a river and creek and last year there was an osprey nest in a nesting stand(not sure what its called) that was only about 6 feet off the water and I couldnt believe how close boats could go by without the osprey leaving the nest...well on one of my river patrols I saw 2 of the young in the nest with one of the parents and was so wishing I had my camera but at that time my longest focal length was my 105 sigma macro lens...now I have my 100-400 and I cant wait to get out on the river with it...and yeah i saw an osprey in that same nesting stand today as well as like 5 others nesting in nearby trees on the river...so until I can get out to try and get some of those challenging pics(challenging becasue I will be in a 14' jon boat) this one will have to do(and I know its not that great but I do hold out hope for being able to get some winners sooner than later)

thanks for the clarification and fwiw, right now the osprey and eagles are doing a bit of territory claiming...the eagles in the park would never stay in a tree if you were to drive or walk by and now they dont move because when they do shortly after an osprey is in the tree...i havent seen any fighting but they are definatley trying to draw lines in the sand

I hope you get the images you're after. I have my eyes on a nest about 20' off the ground on of all things a light for a baseball field.

Keep an eye on the Eagles and Osprey...Eagles are opportunist and will steal an Ospreys catch in a second. ;)

Well I think I got some pretty good shots today....I don't have time to process but I did take a sec to process this one...I will post more in another thread later....oh and these are not from the park I work at...this is from College Creek in williamsburg...the funny thing is that I was walking thru the brush to get closer to the edge of the water to take a pic of a heron when I heard the osprey and looked up and there he was :D

this is the crop:
