Hi

Thanks for replies Jon and 2mnycars - feedback gratefully received....here is something I have just posted over on the tiffen forum as I am a little confused by grey lining (to use with velcro) as opposed to what i normally see with the same green nylon on the inside as well as the outside....I am sure these are not fakes as they were bought via Calumet (through the offical UK distributor) and direct from amazon....

Anyway - post below

"Hello

I have just got my F-2 - its great!

It came with a different 4 compartment insert, however - it has grey lining and the four compartment divider can be moved around as it is attached by velcro - is this new?

I had just returned an F4AF bag which had a large FA211 insert with the same grey fluffy 'felt' inside. I bought an FA-211 from amazon which had the traditional all green shiny material inside and out....what I'd like to do is get an FA-211 with the soft grey lining inside to match (as I had in the F4AF) so that I can also use velcro dividers in it....is this a standard product? (the bags and inserts were bought from Calumet and Amazon respectively).

For info I am able to get a 50D + prime lens in the large 1 compartment insert, alongside 4/5 (obviously) lenses in the 4 compartment insert....it works great - if only i could get a soft lined Fa211!

Henry"

It seems like Domke made a change on their inserts...Not a bad feature actually, seeing how lenses are getting wider and wider these days.

I just received an F2 today with the exact same insert. I like it :)

I bought my bag used so I have the older non adjustable insert. I needed more room for my 24-70L with the lens hood reversed. I just poped the seam half way down in the middle between the dividers. Worked great.

Will both of those inserts fit in the F2 at the same time?

So the 70-200 2.8 fits with no problem in an upright position? Strange, I have the f4 version and thought that the 2.8 would definitely not fit in there.

Yes, it will. You can't put it upright while it's attached to a camera, but by itself, it'll do fine. If you want a bag that'll accept a mounted 70-200 vertically, go for an F802 (if you use ungripped bodies), F804 or F7 Double AF to name a few. They'll even take the 300 f/4 vertically (without an attached body).

I'm getting the F2 just now but want to make sure with you guys (because you seem to know this bag quite well) that my gear will fit. I doubt that it wouldn't but just to make sure.

I really like the idea of having it in a lens-facing-down kind of way for easy access to the camera but not sure if the space will allow that for my good old chunky Canon 1Ds with a 24-80 lens on it. What do you think?

Sorry about the crappy photo...

I bought a Domke 720-233 FA233 3-Compartment Insert for my F-2. I have a gripped 7-D with a 24-105 attached (hood reversed and very bulky), and I wanted 4-sided protection for the camera as well as the lenses. I ended up taking the internal dividers out of the 3-Compartment Insert (labor-intensive -- they are sewn-in, not velcroed in), cutting 3/4" off the bottom of each of the four sides of padding and placing it adjacent to the 720-240 FA-240 4-Compartment Insert that comes with the F-2. Now everything is padded (4 sides + bottom), and it is easy to get the camera in and out. The other lenses in the bag are: 70-200 w/Tripod Collar Mount Ring and hood reversed, 10-22 and 85 w/hood reversed. My 580EX II is in the side pocket.

Just saw this which should work? Guess I just need a few extra pads etc... Not sure what lens you've put on here, do you think it would still fit with a 24-80 lens?

Just read that you got your 24-105 stuck on there, sorry, my bad. All good!

The current Domke inserts have velcroed dividers. I can fit a 1D3 and another body along with several lenses in my F2 no problem.

Sweet! I'll get one straight away then. Any suggestions on places to get one from? Looking at ebay and amazon at the moment... Never had problems with ebay stores but I really want to get the original bag and might not want to risk it.
