I've now had this bag for a few weeks, and I've gotta say... every time I use it I love it more and more!

There's a guy who's selling his F2 on the local kijiji, and thanks to this great thread, I'm about to buy it. Gear listed below + a forthcoming 70-200 f4.

Mr Domke is a genius!
Best bag to work out of quickly.
Added a Domke postal pad to my strap. Easy to carry.
Mine was an exchange and has no handle strap. Regret that.

Yes. But not with the stock insert (body & 70-200 will be too deep to stand vertically, you'll need an insert that lets you put the 7D/70-200 on its side; the 720-230 is my preferred insert.

The 720-230/FA-230 is on back order everywhere I looked. Tiffen/Domke is out too but has them on order.

Jon,

Thank you for all your Domke missionary work. I'm glad I got the F-2. It works very well for a day bag and it's comfortable to carry. As you've mentioned, it's easy to work out of it.

Discovered the olive-green F-2 I'd recently purchased is apparently a special edition from the mid-90s.

Wonder how it reached the other side of the world then? :)

about this domke special edition,i own a f6 that i have had for about 15 years now,i think they only made this olive green with the leather trim edition for about 4 years!it came in the f2 ,f6,and i think a report's satchel f-802e or 803e,! but i find its helpful to have 2 or three domke's on hand, because i need a different bag depending on my gear for the day,i own three right now, F2 F6 F3,love the domke bags.

Dunno how I missed this - Domke offered an Emerald Green with leather trim back in the late '90s, IIRC. Had brass hardware as well. But not, like blanex's photo shows, olive.

cut off the tip of the moveable part of the clips.. that'll make you able to undo them in the same way as you hook them on..
it still requires some force to undo them -more than to hook them on, but if they feel too loose, its possible to tighten them ..

QUOTED IMAGE

How did you cut the tip off

What is the Domke number on the insert next to the one that came with the bag? Is that the 720-211 or 720-250D? Thanks

If you're asking about the one in the Emerald Green/Brown leather F-6, it'd be the 720-216; the F-6 is shallower than the other Domkes and consequently needs shallower inserts. If you're referring to the original post and the F-2, the 720-250D is much different from the 720-211 (designed to hold body+lens and several more lenses); it'd be the 720-211 in the picture.
