200-400 F5.6 TAMRON LD INTERNAL FOCUS ?

^Ditto and I'll stop there. Cheap alternative would be Sigma's 135-400 APO which is actually a nice lens but lacks HSM and OS which sucks but once again, the glass is real nice and creates a nice pop and that was using a Sony. Ah!

Next best would be the new 120-400 IMO and it's exactly expensive for an HSM and OS lens. that gets you to 400.

The question I always have with the cheap longer lenses, is does it beat a crop for a shorter lens. I wonder if those 400mm shots above would look just as good from a cropped 55-250, or 70-300 APO, etc.

I'm wiling to bet a decently skilled photographer could get better results from cropping a 55-250mm IS or Sigma 70-300 APO shot than with this old Tamron 200-400

Please save yourself a great deal of disappointment, do not buy this lens at any price. I did have one, gave it plenty of chances to perform...and it failed miserably. This was waaaay before Canon and my L days, so i'm not comparing the two at the same time. I implore you, pass...there are better lenses out there at similar cost.
