First sunny weekend in a while and a corker it is!
Today we had the chance to get down to the local Skatepark, my son on his board and me on my camera..

Here are some of the photo's from todays outing..

All clickable for a larger version - C&C welcome.. (May seem a little low quality becuase of the large crop) I need a wide angle lens for this job!

#1 - One of my Son standing on his board..

your son will love you forever if you purchase a fisheye lens. Sigma makes a good one for crop bodies.

The photos: none of theme do much for me. skateboarding requires extreme angles.

after posting some skating pictures here, I've learned a couple things...

Get low and get close....the lower you get, the bigger the stairs, rail, ledge, etc. look to the person viewing the photo.

numbers 2-5 would benefit from a larger crop....show where they're landing, show a little of where they're approaching from .....

IMO, number 5 would be fantastic if you left a little more headroom, got lower, and got a good chunk of the landing area in the frame.

great photos though....I'm still learning skate so take my advice with a grain of salt...its just some info I've compiled...

Nice stuff I really like the first one the rest I would like to see maybe a little less DOF to get a little more separation between the subject and background. Though this can be hard due to the wide angels .

Thx for the comments and advice guys, it's very difficult to decrease DOF on a moving subject such as a skate boarder...

I need a new lens for this very subject, I was using the kit lens 18-55 and I need a wide angle..

Yes. Definitely needs to be closer and lower as Jimmy stated.

I skated pro-am for over 12 years. Skateboarding is a culture and a way of life. Think of this on your next skateboard outing. Try and capture attitudes, not just "cool tricks".

My favorite of the lot is the first. And I know you probably didn't mean anything by this. But, after you posted your sons photo, you stated "now for the real skaters". :(
Jeez. If it were my son, it would of read ... here's some skaters, they skate for some team. Now here's the real skater ... my son.

/just giving you a hard time. ;)
