Good day for baseball in the Pacific Northwest in March. Mostly cloudy skies with the sun peaking through every now and then.

Aside from shooting behind home plate, clean backgrounds were hard to come by - like most hs fields.

Mark II, 300 2.8 IS. Frontal pitcher shots and meager infielder shot taken through chain link fence with green molded coating.

C&C always welcome.

1 - Big ol' donkey bringing some ched'. Sophomore. He's a good one.

2 - Junior shortstop. Believe already verbally committed to Washington State U. Potential draft pick in 2010.

3 - Junior. Had a handful of varsity innings as a sophomore. Good stuff with nasty hammer. College material for sure.

4 - Senior catcher. This one didn't come back.

Sweet color and WB. Good action shots. Loved the HR swing. His swing finish looks like he may have picked on a ball inside and perhaps even off the plate to pull. If so, he's going to be a deadly hitter. That's usually a pitcher's 'out' pitch!

These are beautiful. Great clarity & color.

My son plays juco baseball in this area. His last local game (Auburn) we had snow, rain and hail. Glad to see someone got sun!

Thanks Pat. We get our fair share of rain here in Seattle - but we tell people from Cali that it never stops.:)

Beautiful lens for sure. Thought it was a tank and used a monopod when I first tried it out ... now prefer to go handheld.

Thanks Dave. I boosted the color a little bit but didn't touch the WB. The pitch was down in the zone but over the middle of the plate. He hit it out to dead center field.

The weather was messy in Bellevue all last week but the sun prevailed on Saturday. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Ronnie, these are nice but it all really comes together on #4. Lighting, color, timing, very nicely done on that.

Nice Ronnie, just shot my first up in this area - though cheated cuz I already got about 16 games in FL a couple weeks ago. Snow on the drive up, front focusing problems and then my shutter blew. It was not a good day! Front focus killed a lot of good shots, the remaining were mediocre at best. I'm liking 3 for the expression and mechanics making me happy.

Thanks. I like shooting batters at this field. The sun moves from left to right field during the course of the day and keeps the batter's box front lit.

Front focusing ... blown shutter ... sounds like a crappy day. The kid in #3 gets stuck on his front leg at times and cuts off his follow-through, but overall he has solid mechanics. He's been to a couple showcases down south (AZ, CA) and done well. Probably throws in the low 80s but his curveball sets him apart from the pack.

Nice shots. I like the "long-ball" image. Is the infield, minus the mound, ProTurf (Field Turf)?

Not the funnest of days for sure and ruined my shooting plans for this week. Tomorrow have to send it in as I can't get to UPS today since we have our first scrimmage and they have weird hours (3-5pm only). Got four pitchers scheduled today starting with the 6'6" kid and two more returners at 2 innings each, then one inning for the new kid as he has some arm lag in his Heath Bell-esq type delivery leaving the ball up that we're trying to work on so thinking he'll be all over. I really need to buy a gun to see where these guys sit, some cheap alternative that may not be dead on but give an idea. Only 2/4 have good off-speed stuff, the others just learning.
