Thanks for your help, I was able to bring it to life. Can you guess which one was edited where?
I know that the Sat is over the top but I was trying hard to bring the photo back to life. I wanted to push it as far as I could.

You could do either image with either program.

btw embedding a 500kb image is considered rude, and is against forum rules. Keep it to 100kb.

In ACR, have you tried changing the camera profile from the ACR 4.4 (if that was the one you quoted) to one of the other profiles Adobe have created such as Standard, Neutral, Landscape etc? They may put you closer to what you seem to be after?

Agree with what Rob said. I reckon you'd find the 'Landscape' profile in ACR would give you a result that looked quite similar to your DPP output.

Yes it is, it is very dis-heartening. :( Have no clue how to to correct. If that is indeed the actual raw data untouched, whats that say about my 1700.00 dollar lens I just purchased? :(

Al, you are NEVER looking at the raw data. you are ALWAYS looking at an image created from the raw data. Different converters have different default settings that are applied when the image is loaded. DPP uses the camera settings as a starting point, Photoshop and Lightroom have there own. It is up to you to modify the image you see using the controls provided in the converter until you get the effect you want to achieve.

Alright some tech talk that I can understand. ;) I am sure that is the same thing the other were trying to get across but it was still a little muddy.
So editing the picture will not be any more destructive, (no matter how the image is being shown from the raw data) in either program. Right?

So if it looks snappy in DPP and I just pop the sat a bit, it should be the same quality picture as messing with the levels, con, sat, and sharpening all adjusted with ACR.?
Its just talks a bit more tugging and pulling to get the image to the same state as the other right? But it is still being read from the raw data and the IQ should be close to the same when all is said and done correct?

As long as you are working in the converter there is no loss, other than the conversion to 8 bit jpeg. through jpeg compression. Keep compression to a minimum and you won't notice a difference. And that can be avoided by converting to tiff...
Also, as others have mentioned, different profiles can be set in ACR that mimic the DPP settings. I'd suggest you try them and find one you like to minimize the amount of editing necessary. I don't use Photoshop for converting raw so can't help you with doing this...
