Am I correct to assume that I can't set the CF card to record RAW and the SD card to record .jpgs simultaneously?

That's a Mk3 thing right?

Nope all you can do is record on one or the other or both--- it uses one card for a main and the other as "backup".

Question - - would that option be a simple firmware upgrade to the 1DII and 1DsII?

Maybe, only Canon can tell for sure...
However, that firmware update hasn't happened, and I don't think it ever will...

Probably. I have never liked the way Canon left their customers behind when a new camera body is released. Especially for those that fork over the money for their pro bodies. I can understand not releasing new firmware/updates for all cameras but IMHO they should support the current body and the previous one. As a 1DMkII owner I was really angry when I saw the features on the 1DMkIIN that I felt could have been added to the 1DMkII via firmware.

Michael
