Building a remote box for baseball/soccer

I'm thinking of redoing my remote camera. So far I have use a Bogen super clamp and attach the camera to something high.

I'm not liking the high angle shots and it always slips a little so you end up with an off horizon shot that you have to re-crop and possibly lose a good photo.

I'm thinking of building a Plexiglas box that would hold a Canon 1Ds Mark II with either a Fisheye or Sigma 14mm lens with a PW for the remote. I think Plexiglas would be easier with hinges and such. Anyone have any examples? Opinions? Notes of warning for me?
