It's not often that my local paper goes to town with my pics - they're usually trying to keep their costs down! - but I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up this morning's edition.

A nice banner piece across the back page...

...and, of course, many apologies for this bit of self-indulgence!

Nice pics mate, but isn't it funny how since Brian's son took over that the Brewers have been known as Nigel Clough's Burton Albion and not plain old Burton Albion :)

I've been up there at least half a dozen times and it's never an easy place to go so maybe five won't be enough for Grays!

It was certainly not an easy place to go...courtesy of the diabolical A511!!!... however, I can now look forward to a trip to Villa Park which can't be a bad thing I guess!

How much did you get per picture?

That's that work. I've never seen a newspaper or magazine publish your own personal website at the same time!

Great how you managed to shoot all 5 goals. At least you weren't chimping like I would be, and miss the important parts. :D

I'd be (slightly) crazy to reveal my rates - but, suffice it to say, when the paper phoned me to say they might be using up to nine pics, we came to a very nice 'agreement'!

Thanks Wazza! With regard to my website address, the paper usually pay me per picture used... so printing this many would have sent them spiralling towards bankruptcy (allegedly!!). Therefore we struck a good financial deal - plus I made sure that they added my URL to my usual credit line!
