Me too, but the only thing that worries me are the pixel densities in the latest P&S cameras!
Geezus, a couple of the Powershot models are at 14.7MP, all on a sensor about 1/4 the size of a crop sensor! Insane!

I'm hoping the latest P&S releases will serve as a MP density wall and hopefully all the manufacturer's get together and coordinate marketing campaigns wean folks off the more MP = better camera mentality.
I think Canon is really missing out on a totally new direction they could take the industry with regards to capturing full dynamic range scenes.

This is exacerbated by the fact that most P&S users rarely print larger than 5x7.
Not to mention the 6MB, 4,416 x 3,312 jpegs I routinely get in my inbox from family members with the latest & greatest P&S cameras who don't have a clue about resizing pics before sending....and they wonder why it takes a couple hours to e-mail photos on their dial-up connection! Haha!

It seems to me that there isn't much of a "hole" between the 500D and the 5D for the new mid range camera whenever it may occur UNLESS they are going to move it to Full Frame. I really really hope thats what happens. A slightly descoped version of the 5DII would be my perfect camera, especially if they aimed it at sports shooters - less megapickles (thanks to whoever used that word before it made me chuckle) but more FPS and good AF, with the larger form factor. Video? meh, less bothered, but live view could be good shooting from funny angles.

Canon says suggested retail is $900. If I think about it more, it's a reasonable price. I'll just wait and see how people say about it.

$899 with the lens. As much as I want one, it's more of a toy for me than anything but I could use a good Rebel for my g/f to use at weddings as I want an older XT or 20D to be my IR camera. Idk...so many plans.

Oh $900 w/ lens. Makes it a more reasonable price.

60D may come out end of this year or early next year. I would rather save but who knows.

I've decided to sell my XSi even though I've only had it for a month. Also, one of my old point and shoots I'm selling to a friend for 125$ what really sucks though is even though I've only had it for a month I'm probably only going to be able to get back like 600 maybe 650$ for it. With tax + a 4gig. memory it was about 810$

I JUST REALLLLLLLY WANT THE LIVE VIDEO. really bad.

$799 according to the release.

I think that's just for the body though. I guess I could always sell my XSi body and keep the lens though...for some reason that hasn't crossed my mind. Silly me.

I feel the same, you're not alone.

I like it a lot, If I had the money too I would, especially if it had the articulating lcd that was rumored. The specs are awesome and it's a really sweet camera, but not enough for me to shell out 899/799 even though it's a stellar price...plus I just bought my XSi back in September.

AHHHH! swivel would have been totally stellar. Didn't sony do that recently with an SLR? It seems as though I've glanced at one recently.

Wow a new camera - Canon hype (read: marketing) at its finest !
At that price, with all those features, they won't be able to keep em in stock, so you better get your order in now for the May release date ! ;)

Randy, Gear - 3 in the green, and a T5i with a few lenses !
