Yes, the MkIII fiasco really lowered my opinion of Canon and big business in general. And that was before the worldwide financial implosion. And they wonder what caused it and why people don't want to spend their money. Sheeese.

Add to this, that its nearest competitor boasts 8 FPS only after adding a battery grip and special batteries and only under the best of conditions. Adding insult to injury, they bury the fact that these speeds can only be achieved while capturing images in 12-bit. Using 14-bit capture results in a meager 2.5 FPS reagardless of accessory grip or battery. - Duncan

It will be my first DSLR. I'm studying the instruction manual so I'll be ready to go. I was hoping Canon would add a quick control dial to the back, but I'm still thrilled with the new specs. In addition to maintaining product differentiation, the original KISS/XXXD/Rebel was conceived to cater to women and novice/amateurs looking to get some DSLR love. Perhaps research showed a significant amount of users preferred having buttons with an easily identifiable orientation; up, down, left, right, center. The jog dial requires different spatial concepts and may not have tested well for the intended audience. Heck, some may wish the XXD/XD cameras had the buttons in lieu of the dial(*Note to Canon - We don't!). Judging from the sales of Rebels, it isn't a stretch. I'm just glad they sell a crapload of them to provide consumers with a great product while floating R&D money to their big/bigger brothers. - Duncan

My brother has a 5D and I love it. The Rebel will be perfect to learn on. Then I'll upgrade to a model with a full frame sensor (with the rear jog dial!). Other than the kit lens, I don't plan to invest in any EF-S lenses. Couldn't agree more about the needed name change! I prefer 500D to Rebel T1i. I'm reading the manual every day. Chapter 4 was really good. Can't wait to see what happens in Chapter 5! -Scott

Bang! And about time too. I know the companies didn't think of it, but it's a nice side effect anyway, going from use once DVD discs and tapes to completely eco-friendly reusable flash media is a stroke of genious. One of the things I look for now when searching for video cameras. Mitch- ____...^.^...____

Oh boy, Nikon fields yet another DSLR without an AF motor in the body and places it between their D80 and D90. LOL

The T1i has an AF motor in the body and works with all Canon lenses whereas the D5000 does not. To use the D5000 with AF, you have to buy from a very limited and horribly expensive lens selection that has AF in the lens otherwise your ultra modern DSLR is restricted to manual focus. I think that's a very important distinction.
