Bleh... too good of a camera for that price.
Soon photographers will no longer be needed and Dick and Jane will be able to shoot their own pics with out hiring a pro. *sniff Sniff*

And if I buy a house with a nice kitchen I can automatically cook as good as Gordon Ramsay?

Depends... does the kitchen do everything but shop for the food and place it in the oven?

My kitchen does this but I have to give it my Visa and leave a tip. My camera doesn't want a tip but it still wants my Visa.

Well, sad to say, but once again, I am underwhelmed with the image quality of the sample shots I see from the camera. :(

The 500D has been available here in Singapore since 24 Apr 2009. Street price US$900 with 8GB SDHC and EoS bag. And a week earlier than Nikon's new D5000.
Just for info.

edit: above is for 18-55 kit. 18-200 kit available from early May.

A camera based store at my local mall today got them. Walked in and asked when they will be getting them and happened that they got a few today.

O M G, that is all i can say.

I actually like the fit in my hand better then the previous models, 400d/450d.
The camera has no lag, it's very sharp and fast working (unlike my xti)
I can't wait to buy one. I was also very pleased with the results i got with the regular 18-55 IS lens attached. amazing camera for the price.

not comparing it to any camera, just speaking of this camera generally I am pleased with it.
