Hi Drozz - out of curiousity had you considered the 5D MkII at all?

Yea, I considered it.. a lot!.. I just couldn't justify the price. I just started into photography in december. For $3k I would buy a XH-A1s

The video is definitely impressive on the 5D, i wish i could have!

I fully understand, for the kind of money they're asking ;). And for that kind of cash, there certainly are some dedicated alternatives.

[QUOTE=erock901;7862746][QUOTE=andypark713;7862046]So does anyone think that this T1i could be used in place of a mid-high level consumer camcorder? (600-800)...

I bought the T1i with the same idea. Now that I've used the video function a couple times, I think I'll still have to buy a dedicated camcorder if I want to take long videos (clips more than a few mins). The quality of the T1i video is great. But the camcorder will be so much easier to use with the quicker AF and Wide/Tele zoom functions. Oh, and the mic on the T1i is not that great either. I'll use the T1i video for quick video clips (10-15 secs) that I will put together in video montages set to music.

BTW, good luck with the new baby. I have one coming too.

My take (still waiting for body-only version of T1i) is that T1i may not be great for quick, casual home movies of your kids - get an amateur cheap camcorder. It might be more appropriate for more professional-type video shooting, when you have time to set up lighting, focus and camera movement the way pro filmmakers do, using different lenses, DOF, and many of the tools photographers use. The T1i may get results that one cannot get with a cheap camcorder, albeit requiring more skill and effort.

0"5 is half of a second, so 0"8 is 8/10 of a second. 0"4 is 4/10 and so on.

What do you need to know? I shot around 250 pics last 6 days, and thats exactly the amount of days I have it. I bought it with the kitlens 18-55 and a Tamron 18-270VR lens.

For more samples have a search in the lens section for my username.
These where shot with 430EXII (bounced) at f8 and ISO400.

Of course. Duh.

I considered doing an unboxing set, but The box is ridiculous looking, the packaging reminds me of Nerf products. I really wanted a 5dII but this is what I could afford. and Canon really drives this home by packaging it to look like it came from Toys R Us.

As for the camera it self I Really liking it so far. Easy to navigate and the LCD screen is beautiful. Might even take a mini road trip this weekend just to break it in.

I wish Canon would be better about getting info to Apple and Adobe. It bums me out that the T1i's RAW files are not yet supported in Aperture.

Thats true, Here in the Netherlands only kit with 18-55. Body only is expected begin june...

As for video, I found 3 great programs that will do the view merge/convert and edit trick of those large 1080 mov files. VLC player/AVS video converter/AVS video editor. These 3 are really worth trying!

Canon's USA web site does not list a body only being available. Kit only. The same for the XS and XSI.
