I purchased a body with a bag and a 2gb sd card for $788 from Cardinal Camera. They're an Authorized dealer in PA. I think it ended up being $725 after live cashback.

I called Canon before i purchased it, to confirm that the warranty will still be intact. Even though it was purchased through Ebay.(I've read on here a couple times that it wouldn't)
A manager in the Sales Dept. told me: as long as its purchased through an authorized dealer, and you're provided a receipt, the warranty is intact. I did get a receipt with the camera.

Got a chance to go play with My T1i this weekend. I am still getting used to this camera but so far I am really happy. My biggest complaint so far is that I get cheek smudge all over LCD every time I shoot.
I am having a problem that even though I review time set to 8 seconds it seems to go away almost instantly, but for some reason I think it may be my fault. There are a lot of settings on this camera and I don't have them all dialed it yet.

Here are a few shoots from the weeknd.

picked mine up last friday at bestbuy. I asked one the floor salesman if i can take a look at it. fortunately they did not have one on display. so the salesman had to open up one for me to sample. i say fortunately, because i knew that if they opened it they would either have to use it as a display or sell it marked down 15%. So i was able to grab this amazing new toy for 850. i sold my xsi with random extras and made $650(i only paid $475 for it). Kept my canon bg-e5 grip and 580ex II for the t1i, so all in all i paid 200+ taxes for this camera, day of. :)

haha! they let you buy it as an open box? = 15% off? thats awesome!
Im thinking of doing the same. Let us know how you like the camera!!

Im wondering if the video capabilities are enough to fit my needs of taking clips of my baby boy.

enjoy!!

Yeah! Just pretend your having a difficult time deciding if you want to fork over that amount of money on a new camera. Then talk to the salesman and say is there any way you can knock off anything off the price since its open now. I spent an hour at best buy and needless to say it worked.

On another note, i originally bought a rebel xt to start shooting my baby boy. When he turned two i started getting really into it and upgraded to the xsi. now he's 3 and now i have the t1i. its like every year im upgrading haha. I'm so glad that all the xsi accessories work the t1i.

So far the camera has been great! Especially the video recording feature. what i love about that feature the most is you can snap photos while your recording. definitely worth the money!

B & H or Adorama have them in stock, but only the kit. No one seems to have the body only yet.

Ok, I have the camera now for about 3 weeks..... Allready shot over 3000 images (I admit, also for testing and just to get used to this fine piece of equipment).
Should i be worried??? For howmany shots is a DSLR designed? Especially this one of course..

Hey all,

I decided to take my 500D/T1i to the beach to try out its movie mode. It's nothing spectacular but just some testing. For those interested, you can see the video here: http://vimeo.com/4799252 (external link)

I had a tripod and used mostly stabilised lenses but it was just really windy!

Lenses used: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6, Canon 50mm f/1.8, Canon 18-55mm and 55-250mm kits.

Very nice auswy. How did you do that shot of the beach where it was going along the shore line? It was pretty smooth.

I can usually get it a lot smoother even when I'm running (with it feeling like the camera's floating through the scene). In this scene however, the strong wind was playing havoc blowing it from side to side. How I get it stable is to use a heavy tripod with a wide base. In this case, I was using my light stand and holding it loosely at its centre of balance ;).

Thanx for this footage.
With wich program did you edit the movie? And did you edited the original HDfootage, and then convert or the other way around?

No problem. I used Sony Vegas and put the original footage directly into the program.
