Unfortunately there a leaf, branch or something that got in the way of some of these shots until I moved to a different angle...hopefully I can catch him in the "building" process again...

Comments and Criticism much appreciated!

unfortunately this is one of the pics with "something between the bird and the lens :( but I had to post it because of the woodchips he is tossing out of his nest.

Look at how high he is tossing those woodchips!!

The next two were taken from a different spot so I was able to get a full clean shot...just wish I had noticed earlier

Nest Update: During some high winds last week the top of the tree which the nest was a part of was toppled

Here is a picture that sorta gives a birds eye view of the inside of the nest....if you look in the first post at picture 4 you will see at the bottom right of the trunk a small branch that is shooting off to the right so that you can try and figure otu where the nest hole was...that is the same small branch that is at the bottom of this picture that is also shooting off and down to the right.

SQUATTER ALERT
I didn't bring my camera with me to work today since it is supposed to rain but I did drive by the nest around 8:30 am and the Pileated was there(actually saw another flying away too) well a couple of hours later I drive by and I dont see the Pileated but no wait...yeah there is a head poking out of the nest...but then it comes out and starts to peck the tree but it looks like a flicker...unfortunately the sky is so overcast and bright that the bird really hard to see and identify...but just from shape alone I dont think it was a Pileated...I sure hope that if that is a squater that the Pileateds come back and kick it out!!
