1Ds II vs 5d II

Any thoughts? Should I "upgrade" to the 5dII? Usage is very general - family, events (weddings, other functions), some sports, etc.


Current: 5d III | 1Ds3 | 5d II gripped | 40d | 17-40L | 24-105L | 50mm f/1.4 | 100 f/2 | 70-200L f/2.8 | 430EX |
Previously: 10d, 40d, 5d2, 14mm Tamron f/2.8, 16-35L, 100 Macro

If you do a search you'll find this has been discussed on here a bit.

It depends what your needs are - the 1dsII has weather sealing, better build, better autofocus, the 5dII has video.

IQ-wise they're pretty close. The 5dII has a few more MP but in reality it makes virtually no difference in print quality.

I guess it boils down to how much you want video.

Thanks! I really want video - especially as my Sony TG3 got stolen!

I've been debating whether to buy a used 1Ds MKII to use alongside my 5D MKII.


No sense and unfortunately not enough money.

No way I could afford both :P

I'm thinking of a 5dII / 1DsII and a Hasselblad 48mm at the moment... probably dreaming a bit! I should get all three!
