Hi all! So I am looking to buy my next DSLR

I started with a 350d, 50mm 1.4, etc.

Sold it all, since I am now deployed and thought I would be quitting the hobby; Decided I should not give up such a great hobby, and am going to get back into it.

I mostly shoot fashion/models. Sometimes shoot cars, I love to work outdoors, and sometimes in low light.

My first lens will be 24-70L & 50 1.4.

I can't for the life of me decide what camera to get. I have choices narrowed down to 40D, 50D, or used 5D.

I only have $1200-$1300 to spend at first.

Most people will probably say 5D, it's full frame, etc. But for my type of shooting why is the 5D worth an extra $400-$500?

Please enlighten me :)

Regards

Jesse

I would say go for a full frame. Save some more money on a MRK II if possible. Don't be impatient and purchase an affordable camera. You will be kicking yourself in the butt. I am talking from what I did, I purchased the XSi, then purchased a crap load of EF-S lenses, that kept leaving me wanting more... So I say be patient and buy what will keep you satisfied for a long time. It's just like buying glass, buy the best so you wont have to end up selling it to upgrade. 24-70 L 2.8 and 50 1.4 is a great start. But may I suggest also adding a 70-200 L 2.8 IS and maybe a 85 L 1.2?

5D if the cars are parked. 50D/40D if they are moving fast. However by the sounds of it, they are gonna be parked, especially with the 24-70 and 50mm I'd get the 5D refubed if you can or used local.

Canon 50D - 17-55mm F2.8 IS - 300mm F4L IS - 70-200mm F4L IS - 50mm F1.8 - 580EX II & 430EX - Full Gear Listing
