Heading to LA for a few days and was wondering if anyone had some secret, and not so secret spots to get good vista type shots of the city.
Thanks

Matt, you know I would be the first one to help you, but it's too bad it's LA that you are visiting, not NYC. Otherwise I'd be able to show you what a sh*thole the city truly is! ;-)a ;-)a

Griffith Observatory is the best. Mulholland Drive over the Hollywood bowl is nice as well. From downtown LA, there is the area by Dodgers Stadium around Chavez Revene but that area is a bit dangerous.

I'd be sure to check out Hollywood Blvd... lots of street shots there. If you look around a bit, you can find the motel where Jim Morrison lived for awhile - it's a neat (but seedy area). Venice is always worth a roll of film too.

Anyways, you will not be at a loss for places/things to shoot.. that's for sure. Have fun.

dont forget disney concert hall and Japanese Town in Downtown! I like to shoot in Getty Center near UCLA. Very nice architectures, plants, and scenery of Westwood (from the mountain).

You did not... just.... *grr* Griffith observatory, definitely. We also just got a new baby giraffe in our zoo (LA zoo). The California Science Center has some cool stuff. The beach is also a fav of mine :). You can get some interesting shots at the Brea tar pits, and the Walt Disney concert hall that someone mentioned is a really interesting building. Last but not least, I love a place called The Grove. Just google any of this stuff for directions PS Forgot to mention 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica.
