Hey guys, I got a question for you:
How long did it take you to aquire the 17-55mm? (if you bought used!)
I've had no luck, no offers, I check the F/S threads daily, and I have a WTB thread up :p I can't wait much longer is it is tearing me up waiting for this lens. LOL, if you guys found one quick, what did you do to get it? Is it just luck do you think? Haha let me know :)

I bought mine used last year from this forum and had a couple of offers within a couple of days posting my WTB thread.

Supply and demand seems to come and go, but it's a popular lens so you should have some luck eventually. You may also want to check other forums like fredmiranda if you're really impatient.

All you have to do is start raving on how the 24-70mm is a better lens on these forums. People will start selling them again :-)

Not me though

I feel your pain, the 17-55 is by far my favorite lens on a croper. Match made in heaven.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

You just have to watch the Sell forum closely and hope you notice new listings before someone else. I was in your shoes a month ago and it's frustrating if you have any other things to do in life besides watch the Sell forum listings. Fred Miranda's Buy-Sell forum also has voluminous Canon lens listing so you can check there as well. Also, be prepared to pay $800+ as this seems to be the going price for used and there's even some upside to that right now. If Canon comes through with the much-discussed price hike in April, used prices may increase even more, depending on demand. This lens should come up fairly often as those switching from crop body to full-frame no longer need it. I LOVE my 17-55 I bought used off this forum. Be patient - you still have time!

I bought used from here. When I saw it, I jumped on it. I forget how much.

*Edit - I went back through my emails and I found how much I paid for it last July = $879.

I don't know if it will get me the lens but I have put $795 aside to buy the lens. Hopefully a deal comes!

Well I'm just about to sell mine but I'll be asking around $890 for it (with Canon hood & MC UV filter) so I think you're under-budgeting

I've been offered a few for $825. But I didn't have all the money at the time so I couldn't :(
