I have images in three different folders that were shot from three different cameras at different times. I need to put all of these images into one folder and re number them from 1 to 500. What program will do this for me. Right now I cant put all the images into one folder because some of the images have the same image number so I will need to do one batch and start numbering from 1 to 100, then the next batch from 101 to 250, then 251 to 500. What program will do this for me.

Thanks,
Tom

This can be done with Adobe bridge when you do a batch rename if you don't reset the numbers it will carry on for the next batch.

I have never tried using Bridge before. I opened it and found out how to do it. Thank you very much for your help. This forum is a great place to learn.

Thank you,
Tom

Hi Tb,

There is a little free programm that I use to resolve the same
problem that you have:

Try this link: http://www.kellysoftware.com/software/Rename4u.asp (external link)

This program does a very nice job and I use it very often.

When you have your pictures in one folder and renamed, then you can
sort the pictures by date and time in WINDOWS EXPLORER and rename
the pictures again. Then the pictures are allso sorted by chronology.

Good luck.

Windows XP does this. Just highlight all the pictures and right click on the first one and one of the options will be to rename. It will number all of them.

I use reNamer. it is a free program that works wonders. It doe basic renaming. But will also replace or remove, or add parts to a name. So say now they are called. img_1234.jpg. You can tell it to replace the img with Christmas, or whatever you want. etc...etc.

Its free and worth the download.

DPP has a fairly robust but easy to use rename tool that works very well and best of all it came free with your camera.

In my playing around the software that came with the camera does this best, DPP.
