The best way to copy them on to disk is to NOT use the built in cd burning software that comes with Windows XP. Use the software that came with the cd burner. If you dont have any software for it, download some or buy some. The software that XP uses is buggy, and proprietary, and the disks probably wont be readable by anyone using an older version of Windows.

Once you have a good burning software loaded, just make a data disk with the files you want. The best way to do this is to create a folder on your hard drive and then sub folders in that main folder. Lable the folders very explicitly so you will know what the photo's are later on. I usually label my folders with a date first, then location or event, like 02312002_charleston_vacation. Then copy the photos you want to archive into these folders.

When you have the photo's sorted out on your hard drive first, its a simple matter of putting them onto the cd. Just follow the directions for the software you have. I personally like Roxio Easy CD Creator, but Nero Burning Rom is good too. You can download Nero, but you have to buy Roxio from a store.

Good luck.
