Hi everyone. I need some CC regarding the following photographs as I am interested in entering a competition.

Apart from composition and setting, which do you prefer from the two pics? Black and White or Full colour? Do you like the added noise?(reminiscent of film)

I am not sure either one of these do much for me. The second one has some noise that kicked up which really takes away from it all. The first one is cool but maybe with a different effect applied it could be more interesting.

Hmmm...

What's the competition of? I mean the subject? Maybe if you tell us that we can give more accurate advice with the topic of the contest in mind.

I personally don't like the added noise in #2. I've learned that it's generally not a good idea to add noise to a night shot. It just looks like bad quality ISO handling from your camera.

#1 looks ok but I'm not quite sure if it's interesting enough for your contest submission. That's why I'm asking about the topic.

well it is a historic competition and any structure of historic relevance is accepted. These gardioli were used in the 1500s as a watch for enemy ships entering the Harbour. They were signal points also.

The noise is added purposely for a sort of IR film effect, which imo complements its mysterious outlook
check out this shot which i found on the net, to see what i mean. http://static.photo.net …d/00F/00FxAa-29288584.jpg (external link)

sure the IR film has an added glow to it too which i did not add to my shot.

here are another two shots.

First one is of the Victoria lines alongside Villas which have been allowed to protrude so close to these historical sites! I intend to present this photo as a shameful act of planning as well as ruining an uncluttered site of this beautiful wall.

This is taken inside Mdina, which was the capital city before Valletta was constructed.

I was about to send you some unkind words, I saw your night pic and it was almost identical to one I posted here a while back. You must have been standing very close to where I was when I took it.
Here is my post:

I like that spot as well.
