I still can't quite believe that I pulled the trigger on a lens (Canon 17-55) that cost more than the body brand new.

Now the hard part is waiting for the lens to make it to my door...

Man... My heart is still beating...

Does it ever get easier? And it wasn't even an "L"

It was very difficult for me also. However, I think that once it arrives you will feel better. It is an awfully nice lens, especially with the right lighting. You will be very pleased with it. Somehow the images start to look like you thought they would look when you bought your camera. . .;)

Well you do have the 70-300 DO which is somewhat expensive.

you'll always get a rush when buying a new lens - that's part of the fun. just wait until you buy some L's...might as well just send your paycheque straight to Canon!

Actually the 70-300 DO was part of package that I got on Craigslist... I managed to get a 20D (for my wife), 50 f1.8, and the 70-300DO for $900. The original plan was to also sell the 70-300DO. So the purchase didn't feel as scary at the time.

You always feel your heart pounding when pulling a trigger on a lens or a body...

its usually something like "Oh god, what if its defective, what if it doesnt work, what if its NOT as good as i think it is? What if im not good enough to use it"

And no, it never gets easier :)

And wow! thats a deal! 70-300 DOs usually go for $700-800...

Congrats on your purchase crazyhorse76!

CASH!

I detest owing anyone or anything. It takes longer to get the funds saved up to get the gear but there is nothing like that bought and paid for feeling.

Congrats on the new lens! The 17-55 is just like an "L" but without the red ring! ;)

I actually think it makes sense buying lenses that are worth more than a body. I'd much rather drop $3k on a lens that will last a good two mount cycles, than on a camera that will be obsolete in 4-5 years.

And congrats on the lens, had a chance to handle it for a bit. Very nice piece of glass!

+1 This is so true. Plus bodies drop their value so fast compared to lenses. You'll be happy with it after the nerves wear off;)

Man that's nothing to what I've been thru with this glass I mean I was excited for it to come. then when it came, earlier then I expected, and stupid FedEx left my glass in front OUTSIDE my door! I was shock and piss off.. But in the end I got tho but what if it's an L next time? I didn't even agreed for it to be left outside cause I didn't even sign the sticker. Man Its going to be ups next time for me. Someone could have came up that day.

Does Adorama always ship UPS Select (for the Free Delivery option)? Last time, they forced me to be home in order to get the package. I wasn't able to pick it up at the UPS station.

Going to be headed down to Disneyland in mid-April, so I'm going to be having a lot of fun with this new lens!!! The great thing is that my wife really likes to take pictures with her 20D too!!!
