Some pics of the Gitzo GT1550T and Markins Q3

I didn't see much info about this tripod so I wanted to post a few of this tripod and the Markins Q3 hoping it helps anyone who's looking for this combo.

The GT1550T is probably the ultimate lightweight, compact, most expensive traveler tripod out there. It's TINY and ultra light yet very sturdy. Quality is the standard Gitzo.

This is not a review as I haven't had a chance to use this for combo for very long...just some test shots around the house.

1. When the head is folded inside, the whole thing is about 14"...very compact and could easily fit into a large backpack, like the Nature Trekker or the Photo Trekker.

Ohh, I forgot to mention, this is actually the 1155T, which is the same as the 1550T which is the current model.

So is this smaller than the 1541T?

I'd rotate the QR 180 degrees, so the screw is underneath the lens... Then it doesn't poke into your chin

Because it's the 5-section, it collapses about 2-3" shorter than the 1541T, from looking at Ben_r's review of the the 1541T and Q3 head.

I think this is the smallest 1 series tripod from Gitzo.

Haha... duh! After I took the pic, I realized that I rotated it down ...

I hope to use it in the field soon and will report back. Overall, I'm very impressed with the stability of those "pencil" legs.

the bottom leg extensions of yours look thinner?

Yes Ed, the last section is just a bit bigger than the pencil in the picture but it's more stable than I expected when I first saw it.

The total weight with the Q3 is about 3lbs. I don't have a precision scale (need to head to the post office to confirm) but from specs, the tripod is 2.2lbs and the Q3 is .8lb.
