The local university I shoot for had their annual spring football scrimmage this morning.

What made this game unusual..

1. We had 4 inches of rain last night.
2. No band
3. No cheerleaders
4. 35 game officials on hand to call this scrimmage.

Yep, both sidelines was covered with officials taking turn working the game. As it turned out, they have been at the school since Thursday trying out to be a conference official for next year's game.

I find that to be hilarious. Almost looks like a practical joke.

Honestly, I don't see what's so bad about that! The mud would make it kind of fun to shoot, I'd think, watching expressions and such (now keep in mind that I am NOT a sports photog!), the number of officials is hilarious to me, and eh, the lack of cheerleaders and band...its a scrimmage. Now, were it an official game, it would be a different story! Guess maybe its all in the attitude though...what you make of it.

Would be interested in seeing some more shots.

I don't see this as a nightmare at all. Wish I was there.

I love football in the rain. The pictures are pretty dramatic plus when this happens, all the wannabe's take off for their cars or under cover in the stands and the sidelines are deserted. Really easy to sell pictures from events like this.

that is a funny shot. I can hear it now, "Holding, the entire offensive line, tight end, fullback and both receivers!"

I've posted some others pictures from the scrimmage on my webpage. Note-the game pictures were really taken for fun since the SID does not usually have a need for scrimmage pictures.

Pictures are under Football 2008 heading.
