I had a shoot with a band called Seventh Hour. This was my first time using strobes with a real shoot. Strobes used were a nikon sb-28 and an sb-20 with cactus V2s. I used a Rebel XT with the kit lens for all of the photos.

CC very welcome...i tried different things with the PP in each photo.

I'm very new to the strobist movement and since my sister is a friend of the bass guitarist, i did this shoot. I needed the practice, they needed the photos, so I didn't charge them anything.

I know the guy in the front isn't in complete focus in this one.

yea i know what you mean....the shadows were making me angry and since I only had one day's worth of practice with strobes, i just said screw it and rolled with it...:)

I don't care about the multiple shadows. I find them kind of cool actually.
What I want to know is where you placed the back light in the first photo and did you photoshop it out or is it that well hidden behind the second guy on the left?

shadows don't bother me too..

@ trailblazer,

i think he put the rim light way back left side outside of the frame. the guy on the far right isn't getting rimmed... that is my guess..

Like them all, shadows don't bother me, give it a grunge look for a band. In the 2nd one I'm still trying to figure out where the guy on the far end is looking, he seems lost in a few of them:)

I must be crazy but the shadows on the ground tell me the front light is back camera left and the rim light is behind the second guy from left straight back towards the camera.

C'mon OP, let me know :)
