Speaking of which. The company has stopped carrying Tamron lenses. So not too long ago (before I am in this bind with no job for the summer), I was able to sell the Tammy 17-50 f/2.8 for $350.

How's that for competitive pricing?

I wouldn't brush off the Big Blue Box immediately even for photo gear. It wouldn't be on the top of my list, but granted it's there somewhere.

Hey guys, I buy a BOAT load of stuff all the time from NEWEGG and AMAZON. Everything Has been inexpensive, comes with warranties, and in one piece, and operable. Most things don't have shipping charges either. For storage, I suggest going to Western Digital, they have had fat sales lately. (if you like WD) This is just an f.y.i if you KNOW what you need and don't need to go to the store to purchase it directly, buy ONLINE!

:) Hey everyone, I am new, and I just wanted to say howdy, too!

Its not that i dislike WD, im just a bit miffed that my MyBook cooked itself :/ Though i also have 2 Seagate drives that im afraid are going to annhilate themselves [Solution, I'm thinking of ordering up a WD Black edition to replace my RAID 0..since said RAID 0 is not as fast as ONE Black Edition 640gb...Let alone two ;)]

And theres been times where Newegg has been VERY close to Best Buy in price on external HDDs...internal not so much..but the externals, they can be VERY close and there are just times i need it -now- and cant wait for Newegg...

I Like WD, i HATE HATE HATE that stupid back up software they have.
I heard one of the dumbest things ive ever heard a sales person say at this store (B.B.)yesterday. A lady was looking at a g10, and said "Well hows the noise, i heard noise is bad in a camera." At this point i realized she was talking about noise in the image, not the camera. Guess what the sales person said. "Noise....umm oh no look you can mute the sounds so the camera is silent."
Granted the sales person may not have worked in cameras but another part of the store. but any time i want even a mem card from best buy they say, "wait and ill get the camera person to help you."
The reason i was there was because i was picking up, well a new hard drive. The sales person asked," are you backing up music" i said "no pictures"... He thought for second and as if a moment of genius struck him he said "oh well the terabyte is perfect it will hold X amount of images!" I said, yea jpegs i take in raw. He said "so a picture is a picture right?"

-headdesk- Isnt that lovely when they do that...

I rather wanted to look at a T1i or the D5000 out of curiousity, but i looked at the people working in the camera department and immediately decided i'd rather not

That day just about every associate was ^&$#$ing about though...it was rather annoying

I went and asked a guy if they had any more Canon 8-series cartridges and he said "Uh...is it over there?" "No, i just figured they might be on another display or somesuch, I see ink cartridges all over the store" "Yeh uh..if they're not in the ink cartridge aisle we dont have them...we're getting rid of a lot of the OLD cartridges.."

That last bit was said in a tone insinuating that anything with an 8-series cartridge was old or junk [Which its not..I have a freaking Pro9000]

So i went "Alright then" set the couple cartridges as well as my other things down and just left..

And on my way out i found the last 2 8 series cartridges i needed, but decided it wasnt worth my time since they "Didnt have them" :)

I hate when they mill around and act as if you arnt there. I was about the buy 2 500 gig WD passports, and the WD terabyte external. Granted Not a 5000$ plasma Tv, but still a hefty buy for me. I stood for 10 mins waiting for 'the guy with the keys" to return. If i had not been to two other stores before that, that didnt have what i wanted i would have left.
I finally got a manager, who was the one that made the jpeg comment, when i complained i got a rather nice discount on top of the sales price. So i cant complain that bad, however i do know what my time is worth 10percent off sales pricde he he he.

I went in this morning to pick up a ScanDisk 8GB SD flash card that was on sale for 49.95. I don't think there was a huge line of people waiting to buy that, but they were sold out. I wonder if they had even stocked up on them. Got me in the store, but I walked out immediately.

Sandisk SD and CF cards have big rebates going on at Adorama and other camera stores. (external link)

8GB Extreme III for $40 after a $15 rebate. (external link)

The rebates go up when you buy multiple cards, up to 3. I got 3 of them for $85 after $80 rebate - that's less than $30 a card! Shipping was only $3.

How long has Best Buy not carried the 60/2.8 macro? It's not in their store or on their website.
