I was at Higher Ground shooting another gig last Friday (a fetish fashion show/heavy metal band) when the opportunity arose to shoot Lotus in the main room that night. I didn't have too much time to devote to this, so I pretty much only took photos of them during the first song.

I like what I got but would enjoy the opportunity to give them a little bit more effort on my part. The lighting was pretty interesting and I think it would produce nice captures.

Wow... # 2 is fantastic... #'s 7 and 8 are awesome too...

Just one song? Great capitalization, on a very small window of opportunity.

Thanks, John. To be fair that one song lasted a good 15 minutes or more. Plenty of time to get the shots and as a bonus the lighting change around a bit giving me different look.

They look a little soft but you got a great variety including the lighting.

Yeah, some of them are a bit soft. Some are sharp. Mixed bag. While the lighting was vivid, it was on the dark side and focusing was tough. Sometimes you get used to great lighting and then you have shift gears.

Thanks.

2 and 5 for me. As said, some of them look a bit soft, but these shots have a neat feel to them.

Thank you. Since the song I shoot was more feel than perform, I made the decision to try to capture that feel. I'm happy with them.

I was actually shooting that night as well. I'm looking forward to having the time to sort through the photos I shot. It was a great show. I dig #7.

I'll be the odd one out here I guess...

Looks like lighing was crap at the beginning...

I'll CC these one by one. Hope I'm not coming across too harsh.

#1: A bit centralised, not too much happening here. Frankly, that combined with the lighting, I'd not use it.
#2: Nice lighting. A bit fill might help. But why is the focus in the back?
#3: Again: focus in the back doesn't work here (subject too small)
#4: Much clutter, no real "subject" in this image
#5: Nice. I'd crop top and left though.
#6: Okay. Not totally sure about the blown side of the face, but I think I don't mind.
#7: Nothing happening here, way too wide.
#8: Too cluttered background, and I do mind the blown bits in this one.

So, to sum things up, IMO the only good images are #5 and 6 here, while #2 could have been nice.
