I vote for the 50D for the same reasons Kruzkal stated. Add to that UDMA card access as well. That will make you get a UDMA card and a UDMA reader too. UDMA will change your life.

The 50D is a significantly different camera than the 40D. "Nature Interpreted" - Photography begins with your mind and eyes, and ends with an image representing your vision and your reality of the captured scene; photography exceeds the camera sensor's limitations. Capturing and Processing landscapes and seascapes allows me to express my vision and reality of Nature.

There are many other features that make the upgrade worthwhile, mainly improved speed and ergonomics.
