Which zoom / tele is best for handholding? 100-400mm? 300 f/4L? 400L?


Current: 5d III | 1Ds3 | 5d II gripped | 40d | 17-40L | 24-105L | 50mm f/1.4 | 100 f/2 | 70-200L f/2.8 | 430EX |
Previously: 10d, 40d, 5d2, 14mm Tamron f/2.8, 16-35L, 100 Macro

The 70-200 2.8 IS wt 3.24 lbs

The 100-400 wt 3.0 lbs

The 300 nor the 400 are tele/zoom

But for your info the 400 2.8 IS wt 11.8 lbs

The 100-400 and 300 f4 IS are easily hand holdable, IS helps a lot. The 400 5.6L needs a faster shutter speed. The 300 2.8 IS is great with TCs for hand holding too. I can hand hold my 500 f4 for brief periods, but I prefer using a tripod on this one.
