I know Magnum, Night Rider, A-Team, Fall Guy and The man from UNCLE but not MacGuyver and Fall Guy. Remember I spent a significant amount of time defending western Europe and we didn't have telly in the trenches :-)

the Fall Guy was on at prime time tv on a sat...a great show. I don't think MacGuyver was ever on when normal people would be watching television...that is probably why it wasn't a big hit.

thanks Paula. Holy moo are there a lot of snakes. One I don't even know. And it looks like there's a gaboon viper (Bobert, is this correct? It's the last snake in that gallery...3 head shots, 83-85) and I've never seen one IRL...(and I'm surprised it'd be in a zoo....POPPIE GUY...don't go to the gallery). WAAAY cool on the bluish one that I have NO idea what it is...

Paula, I couldn't even begin to guess on the alligator/croc thing. At least not educated. A layman's guess would be that the first shot is a freshwater croc and the 2nd an alligator. But without seeing them both head on, I've got no idea.

A little D.C. thug tried to steal 2 from the national Zoo back in the early 80's. He put them in a pillow case and upon exiting the bus he threw the bag over his shoulder. They bit him:). I believe he lived but at great expense and effort. I really hope the snakes were not hurt.

Wow, interesting news about photographing in the UK:

LINK (external link)

Really sad news. I imagine a court would not convict a person for just taking pictures. It basically is another way police can stop pretty much anyone with a camera. There is no way to photograph most museums or events without getting a cop in the frame at some point. I see camera registration and picture licenses in U.K.'s future. Maybe a printing tax to pay for the program.

Hope got to stay with another volunteer family over the weekend (so she wouldn't have to stay in the shelter).

When Lorraine called them today to set up the meeting time for us to pick up Hope, they said that they didn't realize she was coming to me today (thought it was tomorrow), and that the kids were at school. They asked if they could keep her one more night so that the kids could say goodbye to her.

Of course we said yes. I was SO looking forward to getting her today, I've just been waiting and waiting. But it is SUCH a good sign that they want to keep her longer, you know? ;) :D

So we won't get her till tomorrow afternoon. (I can't pick her up in the AM because of my Tuesday meetings and such). I'm bummed, but it's ok.

Do the TPBM tribal photographers use a UV filter on their lenses, and if so, does it enhance / detract from shots, as I am well aware that the primary function of them is to protect the lens/camera from UV light.....

I don't. I had several and every time I attempted to use one, my images looked soft (so I've given most of them away).

I've never used one. It never made sense to me to purchase the best glass available and then put a uv in front of it. A controversial opinion, but I'm not alone.

Nice photos in here this morning.

I don't know, honestly. I just don't use them because of the experience I've had with them. Even good ones. For me, CP's and NDgrads are the only filters I use. CP's on a regular basis...the grads as needed.

Fun and pretty shots. No idea how you got a shot of the Korean War Memorial with no people in it.

No filter here. I have never tested, but everything I read says they detract from IQ. I always use a hood to protect the lens.

That seems a bit unfair! What if someone doesn't like you and just wants to get you fired? They could make something up! And you get no chance to voice your side or question it?

This has long been an issue with these silly regulations. All it takes is one little personality clash and a valuable employee can be out the door. There really needs to be a review process and a way for innocent people to defend themselves. In this particular instance, we totally reject our basic Constitutional rights and find people guilty with no proof and offer no opportunity to show they are innocent.:(

I use 'em - not for UV protection, but for FOD protection. Propwash throws a lot of fine abrasives around. Small animals (2 or 4-legged) aren't stopped by lens hoods (and neither are branches in the undergrowth).

Patience . . . waiting until they're behind the statues. Unfortunately, that didn't work at the Vietnam Memorial.
