 good idea. I shoot the horses at 1/1000 in servo. Slower for panning also in servo ring of fire on the AF. I switch to one shot center focus and AV mode or manual for the crowd and non sporting horse shots. At Arlington Wool and I were shooting a Honor Guard walking back and forth. At the ends he would be in front of dark green or woody stuff so I would have to set the camera about 2/3 underexposed so the camera would not make him overexposed. In the middle he is walking in front of white marble the camera desperately wanted to make 18% gray so I had to spin the EC up a stop. Back and forth he went, a spinning the dial I went.

I find it easier to use manual in these circumstances, I can use adjust either the shutter speed or aperture to compensate quicker than I can use exposure compensation.

I was just thinking about that today.

I am keeping photos of all of them... eventually one day, I'd like to make a collage of some kind with all the pictures. :D

Have I ever mentioned that you are about the best Cat I have ever encountered? Sure are some lucky doggies...:D

Maybe "M" for that? Or was the light on him changing too?

The light changed dramatically from one end of his route to the other. I tried a few in manual...but found it was easier to use Av and float the EC around.

You don't know too many cats, eh? ;) :p

:D That was sweet, Wool. Thanks. :D

Wade said today that one of the downsides to getting Hope and having her for so long is that we won't be able to take in any more dogs while we have her.
I said "why not?".. then we both just looked at each other and laughed.

Solo went to his new home. We met the guy and talked to him for quite some time. Seems like a very decent fellow, has a couple kids at home, and a chocolate lab.

Good to hear he is going to a good home. I think you bless these dogs with your taking them in. :D

I have one though she missed the last few races.. She even got a finish line picture that has sold prints already and will be posted on Maryland's steeplechase page:)

Congrats to Leyla, that is great. :D

But how in the world can she get so good, not learning on here? ;)

Nice having a computer that goes super fast again. Shame about all those missing files. I can't think of any that are real critical, lots that are going to cause me a bit of grief though.

LOL to the assistant/caddy thing. I want an assistant...someone who can do the extraneous crapola, while I take pics. Let them talk to ppl, change lenses on command, er, request....that jazz.

My wife does that for me. :) She is so great and makes my job loads easier. I never compliment her enough. :)

I certainly deserve it but what for now?

Working the crowd is the fun part sometimes. One of the Jockeys is pretty funny and hams it up for the camera. He is a former actor of some sort. I was getting everyone ready for the shot and just as I go to shoot he says "everyone say ZANE!" It was funny.

I almost always avoid EC because I forget it is in use and bugger up the next shot. But in this case.....

Very cool, hubby doesn't really have a clue, nor want to learn. Blondie though....she might be a recruit in a couple of years....

LOL, see, that's the kind of stuff that I want to see you do...My people skills are lacking, at best. Comes from years and years of actually being shy (yeah, I really was).

Do the TPBM tribal photographers use a UV filter on their lenses, and if so, does it enhance / detract from shots, as I am well aware that the primary function of them is to protect the lens/camera from UV light.....

I do use one on all my lenses. I'm sure it has some kind of impact on IQ, but as I'm not a pixel peeper, it remains unnoticable to me. And I like the extra protection against scratches, ...
