More great shots today.

MIKE did Christopher's tubes drop out too early?

BABY WATCH long time for #2 Nikki must be getting exhausted.

ZANE I like the shot of Leyla, tell her congrats on the published shot. Enjoyed seeing your shots again from the wreath ceremony.

My story of the Korean memorial and people. I had a great reflection of the soldier statues in the etched wall, waited and waited for the people to clear out of the reflection, just as I was about to shoot, Curt walks into the frame completely oblivious. I think this may have been shot with our first digital a Fuji 1.3 mp or it may have been my film camera. Anyway here is a shot of the printed picture...seems our scanner isn't compatible with Vista...shows how often we use it. I really liked how the reflection intermingled with those ghostly etchings.

Cute pics. I don't know if I'd call it happy, but anything not crying in terror is a win. :)

Chris and I saw this dog when we were shooting at the capitol on saturday. At first glance the different colored eyes are kind of cool, but I think that living with it would be even worse than having an upside down book on the bookshelf.

The owner said that one of the parents has blue eyes and the other brown which often results in this. Was he stringing me on?

Was pretty good!! The kewl manager was there. It's suprising how everything just goes better when you have a manager everyone likes. Everyone is willing to work harder for him ya know? whereas the ass wipe we have the other nights, people just don't give a rip and don't get all the work done. You would think that the yucky managers would be able to see this... but no.

They can not see much when their nose is too far up their bosses butt.

Just looking through your zoo pics Bobert. Which is the crocodile? the one with a long nose or the shorter stubby one? I can never remember this...
Edit: maybe I should just ask what the one is in image 159? lol I just googled and alligators/croc look pretty much the same.

Dunno, you got me. This was another whirlwind run through the zoo which I again failed to get id shots of the placards.

Permagrin wrote in post #7677852 (external link)
thanks Paula. Holy moo are there a lot of snakes. One I don't even know. And it looks like there's a gaboon viper (Bobert, is this correct? It's the last snake in that gallery...3 head shots, 83-85) and I've never seen one IRL...(and I'm surprised it'd be in a zoo....POPPIE GUY...don't go to the gallery). WAAAY cool on the bluish one that I have NO idea what it is...

Yep that I remember was a gaboon viper. I remember that one cause the wife and I were trying to figure it out and were looking for the sign for awhile. I think that bluish one (actually a shade of green ;)) was a tree viper....but I could be wrong. One day I am going to go and take time getting shots of all the tags too.

We bag, seal and pack the combs for a plastics company in a neighboring town, we get paid to do this work. Sometimes we bag toothbrush holders or soap dishes, sometimes we make little ditty bags with a few things in them, sometimes we do the Goodie comb sets you see in stores. The president and founder of the comb company was an ardent supporter of the Center and basically guaranteed us work ad infinitum. It is great as something to ground and settle my guys in between activities and it brings in a little bit of money.

That's cool Crissa. I like it when companies are involved with the local community.

I am a bit bummed, after taking in my computer to get the hard drive wiped out and reloaded, it seems that all my personal documents (the ones on C: drive) never backed up properly. There was an issue with many of my programs working properly. The last backup I have is 9 months old. I had copied my C: drive to back it up before taking my PC in to the shop, and everything BUT 'My Documents' backed up. Fortunately though, it is just some personal files, as all my photos and work files were stored on another drive, and I also have a backup of all these files.

Oh well, it could be worse.

Dang that's a huge bummer Jim. I had that happen to me once....but with photos and videos of Evan's first 6 to 10 months of life.

What? Come on man...I grew up in the same country as you. We had MacGuiver, Magnum, Airwolf, Knight Rider, A-Team, Fall Guy, The Man from U.N.C.L.E....all the superb cult 80s shows on TV...

Saw all those shows except The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

I know Magnum, Night Rider, A-Team, Fall Guy and The man from UNCLE but not MacGuyver and Fall Guy.

So you did know Fall Guy, but not Fall Guy? :p:lol:

A little D.C. thug tried to steal 2 from the national Zoo back in the early 80's. He put them in a pillow case and upon exiting the bus he threw the bag over his shoulder. They bit him. I believe he lived but at great expense and effort. I really hope the snakes were not hurt.

OUch....bet he would not do that again.

Great news!

My wife has no interestin the actual photography, that is does not want to take the pics, though she will if requested, she has no interest in the post production and such but loves the photo outings. She is really the on constantly looking for out weekend photo op trips and she is a great helper when out in the field. She even has a very artistic eye and constantly points out some really nice shots and angles. She's a keeper.

You should have your wife talk to my wife. Mine gets upset with me that I don't like to go out unless I can take pictures....well, who wouldn't? Sheesh.

Some visitors at home this morning. They didn't stay long though I heard the first solo, rushed inside to grab the camera, was too late to se what it was. So I kept the camera ready, and when I heard another one coming, I rushed outside. As they came from behind me, I couldn't see where they would arrive until they were already past me. Hence the bad quality of the shot

Cool shot Didier. I pretty much do the same thing here.

Not new ones but I had them on hand so I figured I would put them up. The wreath is in honor of a relative of cousin Bill's. For those that don't know there is a way to request a wreath be displayed. There is a wreath laying ceremony every hour I think. It stands there until the next one is layed at which time it is moved to the stairs below the Tomb until that evening.

Great images Zane....that reflection shot is great.

I thought I would just do a drive by mid day complaining. We have a new beagle who just moved in behind us. Have I mentioned how much I dislike beagles. Apparently the new neighbors leave the dog outside all day while they are gone. Stupid beagles never shut up. It has been barking and howling non stop since 8:00 am. Unlucky for them we have a person who works for animal control on this street. I'm suspecting this won't last very long.

That would make me annoyed. Though, when I take Joshua out in the mornings when my sister in law wants to sleep in on the weekends...till about 11am....she always calls to complain for us not to take him out so early. Yeah, like I'm gonna tell him to hold it. Anyway, one day I went over there and was on their back porch when Joshua was barking....funny thing, the construction of the house amplified the bark sound. So it actually sounded louder than what it was. I feel for her...but until she gets her cats to stop using my flower beds as litter boxes, Joshua is barking all he wants in the morning

I think this may have been shot with our first digital a Fuji 1.3 mp or it may have been my film camera. Anyway here is a shot of the printed picture...seems our scanner isn't compatible with Vista...shows how often we use it. I really liked how the reflection intermingled with those ghostly etchings.

Cool shot....but I don't see Curt in there.
