Back in 2000, when we were married, we went to Magic Mountain for a couple of days because Heather's sister and her family wanted to go there. they had come into town for the wedding. It was by far the worst theme park I have ever been to. You actually had to go through a metal detector on the way in and this was before 9/11. The park was dirty, the employees were slovenly and sullen and the place was apparently a hang out for East LA gangs. By comparison Disneyland is a paradise.

I'm actually surprised the place has lasted this long. I would have figured the place to have closed five years ago...

Not everyone can afford to go to Disney though!!

I've been trying to decide if I wanted to say anything, decided to let it lie, but apparently NOT saying anything might be making it worse, ya know?

For me it's a couple different things.

When our normal banter was called 'maddening' by someone whom I deeply respect, it crushed me, and made me look at what I am, and what we are as a group. It made me wonder if maybe our type of humor is viewed as cruel to some people.
I wanted to step back for a little bit and look at what had become 'comfortable' for me. And for us as a whole.

I'm not 'leaving' and I'm not angry. I don't think that what happened was drama. Just a situation that maybe could have been avoided. But I don't know how.

Mainly though, I am SLAMMED with work right now, and don't have a lot of time to dive in here. That will change shortly I'm sure.

Thanks everyone for expressing concern. Really. It's all good though... I'm just not in a place where I can spend time chatting right now.. both mentally and because of my schedule.

Doesn't mean that I don't love you though. ;) :D

Yeah, it's actually nice that we live as close as we do. That would be quite a trip for you, wouldn't it? Even to Disney World, where I'd like to go sometime...

Nah, I am lucky, my aunt & uncle live in FL...free accomodation, plus their annual parking pass gets used every time we go down there ;)

DisneyWorld does kick some arse though...an absolute must to waste away a good number of days there :D

Did I miss some "fun"??

To cheer you up, here is a small recipe that always has success (I just made it for my neighbours and they loved it ;-)a)

Slowly melt 120g dark chocolate with 35g butter

Mix 3 eggs, 80g sugar and a tbsp flour.

Mix chocolate and sugegg together ;-)a

Pour 1/3 of the preparation in 4 individual cups, add to chunks of dark chocolate in each cup and pour the rest of the preparation.

Cook on 220°C for 10-12 min. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream....

Well, if they're in Southern California, Knott's Berry Farm would be a much better choice than Magic Mountain.

I remember it being a pretty fun place back around 1979 or 1980 when I went for my first time. Last time I was there was maybe 5 or 6 years ago, and it was pretty much just like you described. I only stayed for a couple hours before I decided I'd had enough...

We went three years ago. it was starting to look really shabby. Even my boys had enough after a couple of hours and they are usually the close the park type.

Great rant, Gil... The Cotton Top Tamarins (the first picture) are among my favorites of the monkeys. The ones I don't like are the screamy Capuchins.......

Thanx..

No kidding. Last year my wife asked to be taken. :) Her and the two boys really put a chink in my wallet.

This is a role I'm not used to being cast in, but it appears I am the villain in this. I tfought I had made my peace with the main players, but apparently I missed a few.

So, I apologize to whoever feels they have one coming. I will leave you in peace. I'm out of my element here, but wish you all well.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!
