How heavy is the lens barrel vs. lens

I often wonder how could a lens with couples of glasses be that heavy, especially the 2.8 zoom, the big white lens.
Would it because of the lens barrel, the metal mount, or the glass itself?

Any volunteer in taking apart their lens to find it out :lol:
