Is talking about the April Fool's virus? Everyone got everything backed up? Or is no one concerned. I just heard about this and started laughing. Sounds like a new ultimate prank.

Thoughts? Concerns?

Yup, that one.

I never heard about the thing till tonight and really care less. I think it's gag to freak people out, maybe kill the internet for a day cause no one will want to get on it. Dum dum dum!!!

Yeah and they say the same some news sources say but others still speak of the end of the internet. You're implying that everyone thinks it's a joke? I'm just surprised no one is freaked over this. I never cared, but I was curious.

I'm not worried at all, first because of April fool's day, and second because I'm using a Mac.

Apparently I've been dubbed Foxy.

Odd to be warning of a virus to come... coming to you soon.

I respect the possibility of a virus. I was a network administrator and dealt with the Love Bug Virus. It was a PITA. I think I'll just back-up, Live update and shut down for the evening when I'm done tonight. Perhaps I'll work in the garden tomorrow.... :)

It's 2pm on the 1st of April here, no issues. It's really only an issue for people who don't keep their systems up to date AFAIK.

I wonder the thing thought about time zones?

I remember the Love Bug. Yeah, it's not a big deal. I just did a back-up of everything last week and to be safe I probably...no, I have to. Stupid homework. Maybe I'll use someone else's computer.

It will look at the time on the PC it's running on, time zones are irrelevant. From what I read a few days ago all that's happening is the virus is changing modes a little to make it harder to shut down.

I always balance out those hysterical virus warnings with this website: http://vmyths.com/ (external link)

Lots of interesting reading there.

And its 2 hours earlier in New Zealand.

I've been running the same Vista instal since November 07, and never had a problem.

XP was vunerable, but there was an update released in October 08 to secure it.
If you use a legal and up to date version then you have nothing to worry about.
