eBay Bucks Beta Launches April 1...

From my read it is a program that rewards buyers of items on eBay with 2% for eligible items, whatever that really mean. Just thought I would pass along the heads up:

I got the same offer... Where was this program in the last 2 years of me dishing out $$$$. Can't wait to see what happens with it..

I never got the offer. I was in on the previous one called "eBay Bucks" so likely I would get in on this Beta. I only read about it in the Auction Bytes newsletter. Usually I am not a big fan of loyalty program. I have the original PP card which gets me a 1.5% cash back every time I use it as a credit card so I already get about $700 back each year as we pay everything with that card. I think one goal is to get people to use PP more often that the credit/debit card for other online purchases so PP does not have to give Mastercard their cut of the deal.

I really did not use the previous program because for the things I buy online Amazon offers a better overall value. Plus pretty much retail sellers on eBay charge more than those on Amazon. The eBay program only let me buy things on eBay. Maybe when the PP loyalty program kicks off later this year, it will be a better option. What can I say, the 1.5% cash I already get for every purchase on my card is just more attractive to us since it's cash we can use anywhere.

Though I did use the heck outta the Live.com Cashback deal.

correct, that is why it is a beta. I had an invite to the 2% eBay Bucks thing last summer. Really never used it at all since buying elsewhere was not only cheaper it also felt safer. We stopped buying retail items on eBay several years back now. The only reason I bought a couple lenses last fall was the Live.com Cashback and those were used from small sellers.

Still an extra few percent back would be nice for those who don't have the original PayPal debit/credit card that already gives 1.5% back. Even those who don't have the original card already get 1% cash back when using it as a credit card.
