Hi,

Over the weekend my friend and I went out with our families for some picnic. I have 5D+24-105 (as you can see in my signature) and he was shooting with his D700+24-85 f/2.8-4.

In most of my pictures, I could see even the pores in the skin when peeping at 100%. His pictures were very clean and sharp, but clearly could not show as much details (at 100% pores were blurry).

I am sure this has nothing to do with sensor in D700. I know it's a very able camera and a lot of professionals use it. Can lens make such a big difference?
According to him, he has made many commercial portfolios with that combo and never had any problems. May be he never compared IQ with my old 5D.

What do you guys think??

That is a known issue with Nikon cameras.
I don’t know if it has to do with their sensors per se, but it definitely has to do with in-camera image processing.

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

But this review also says that, if a little bit of sharpening is applied on RAW images from D700, then it is almost identical to ones from 5D.
