It's true the B&W focuses more on the child, which is probably the point for you. But the color shot has a magical quality about it that I think draws the viewer more into what the child is doing. The ground looks so interesting it makes me want to poke at it too. Canon 40D, 17-85, 50/1.8, 85/1.4, 420EX

True, it is not as easily apparent that she is playing at a beach, but the focus of the shot is more on her and the rest becomes less distracting. The colour does make for a more interesting surface that she is playing on, but ultimately I believe it takes away from your daughter... Which do you like?
