So its time to buy another wideangle/fish zoom.

the 16-35 and 17-40 dont have enough distortion. i loved my 10-22 but yeah, i dont have it now.

What can i use on teh 1dmk3 that will give me distortion like the 11-16 or 10-22 (obviously efs stuff)

11-16 @ 12.5mm works, and that's what I use at the moment.
10-22 could have worrked at 11mm if you just took off the rear cap.
10-17 Fisheye actually acts similar to a UWA than a zoom at 15mm to 17mm.

Those are the only GOOD options besides the 16-35 and 17-40.

Canon's 15mm fisheye has a wider FOV then even the 14mm prime. Else the Siggy 12-24mm EX is useable on FF or larger then APS as others have said.

Brain has a review on the 1.3x body:

It looks like this on a 1.3 body when at 12 mm.

Isn't there a danger of the mirror hitting the back of an EF-S lens? I put my Tokina 11-16 on the 1D II today just to look and it appears that optically it would be useable from about 13 to 16 mm but I did NOT take a photo for fear the mirror might hit the lens.

Was I being paranoid? ;-)a

word on the tokina 11-16 on the 1D3. Great combo. It's much smaller and lighter than the Sigma 12-24... takes regular filters, optically excellent, and gives you F/2.8.

There is NO danger of the tokina 11-16 hitting the mirror on any canon EOS.

The canon EF-S 10-22 DOES present a danger.

Here are a couple 1d3/11-16 comparison shots

11mm

Canon built their EF-S lenses in a way that will cause trouble when used on bodies that they didn't want them used on. Sigma & Tamron don't seem to have followed that policy so they haven't put lens parts into the mirror box area. If the lens has sections of it that stick well beyond the mount flange then suspect trouble, but if they are flush with the mount flange there isn't anything for the mirror to hit.

Oh I am SOOOO glad about this.

I was going to buy a Mark 2n and sell my Tokina. Then I had this "wow" moment when I realized I could buy a straight Mark 2 and save enough $$ to keep the Tokina.

The Mark 2 arrived a couple of days ago, and now I find out I have a really wide lens for it!

Sweet!
