He was behind glass, but still he took me by surprise.

Actually, he bit the feeding hand the day before, causing quite a commotion and sending the owner to Munich by emergency flight. The guy is reported to be feeling better now.

30D, 60 macro, mini softbox on speedlite mounted on camera. Distance 20-25cm, I guess. Pictures slightly cropped.

Oh my god :) That probably wasn't funny :) I will be scared to death if snake come that close to me. I see Poskok (viper) around 2 meters from me and I wasn't so happy but 25-30cm in range of his "jump" thnx but not for me:)

Hello neighbour.

We have vipers (modras) here in Slovenia too. They are the most dangerous of our snakes, not only due to their rather potent poison, but they are quick to turn aggressive as well.

The one pictured was an Agkistrodon Contortix, I think it's called Copperhead in America.
